Windswept in Jarilla (Extremadura): the fire is "totally out of control" and 70% of the area is beyond control.

Windswept in Jarilla (Extremadura): the fire is "totally out of control" and 70% of the area is beyond control.

The fire that started five days ago in Jarilla , in the north of the province of Cáceres, and which was on the verge of being stabilized but was reactivated by the wind, is currently "completely out of control" and 70% of its area cannot be addressed due to the lack of accessibility and the conditions it presents.

The Minister for the Presidency, Interior, and Social Dialogue, Abel Bautista, made these statements at the conclusion of the CECOPI meeting, which was attended by the President of the Regional Government, María Guardiola, at the Advanced Command Post located in the town of La Granja.

In addition to the urgent evacuation of the 250 residents of the town of Rebollar due to a sudden change in the wind, clients of the Balneario Valle del Jerte have been asked to voluntarily leave the facilities tonight and if they wish to remain there, to be prepared for evacuation.

The CECOPI has also decided to evacuate vulnerable people from the town of Segura de Toro, giving the same warning that it is voluntary or that they should be prepared in case of an emergency.

"Right now , we're defending ourselves against a large fire that's dependent on weather conditions. When these change, we'll be able to begin attacking it," said the councilor, who noted that the forecast for tomorrow is better, which could slow the spread of the fire from the Jerte Valley to the Ambroz Valley.

The southern flank, which was advancing toward the city of Plasencia, performed better , as it was able to consolidate its advance thanks to nine aircraft assets being able to act upon it, something that was impossible on other fronts due to smoke clouds or "pyrocumulus" clouds.

There are currently seven major fires raging in Extremadura, and the Aliseda fire is also a cause for concern. Bautista said the fire is "active and ugly," and has forced residents of the Cuartos de Baños residential area, who had returned to their homes that afternoon, to evacuate once again.

In the Casar de Cáceres fire, residents of the El Prado residential area have returned to their homes, but those in Viñas de Matas have not been able to. The regional minister highlighted the collaboration of Civil Protection and the residents themselves in fighting the fire.

In addition, there have been renewed blazes in Burguillos del Cerro and Llerena, in the province of Badajoz, as well as new fires that have required the division of resources and personnel to tackle them.

Abel Bautista emphasized that 25,000 hectares with a perimeter of 310 kilometers have already been burned in Extremadura and insisted that the government evaluate the possibility of sending additional material and human resources through the Army and the European Civil Protection Mechanism, as the Extremadura government has been requesting since yesterday.
