For many years, the American dream has motivated many people to leave their countries of origin and seek better opportunities, especially in Latin America.
However, a young American woman, identified as Julia, shared a video on social media, in which she asserted that the conditions some people are seeking in the United States are far from reality.

According to the user, her family is a clear example that "the American dream does not exist," as she revealed that for a long time, both she and her loved ones had to face poverty in the United States.
“We worked hard, we did everything right, and yet we still couldn't afford to live comfortably,” Julia began explaining in the post. She also noted that rent and healthcare were something they couldn't afford.
The young woman also emphasized that grocery shopping was an activity that left them in the red at the end of the day, which represented a significant financial hardship for them.
“The American dream says that if you work hard, you'll get ahead… But the truth is, the system is broken,” the American added, referring to the fact that this idea disappears when people face the real conditions.

Before ending the video, the user emphasized that, unlike her former home, the food in the South American country “is healthy and not processed with chemicals.”
“This is something we never had in the United States, not even after five years of living there together. Don't believe the hype,” were Julia's words concluding her TikTok about the American dream.
