Colombia also celebrates its independence day in Chicago with a large cultural and musical festival.

Chicago is the setting for a large gathering of Colombians celebrating the 215th anniversary of independence. Thousands of fellow Colombians living in the United States have gathered since July 18th (and through July 20th) in the city's Humboldt Park to spend quality time together, enjoying a musical experience.
“We are thrilled to celebrate eleven years of the Great Colombian Festival (…). This important anniversary celebrates Colombian culture and is a testament to the enduring spirit and unity of our community. By uniting Latinos and Chicagoans, we are a powerful and unbreakable part of this city,” said Jorge L. Ortega , founder of the event.
