Drunk man joins race in Brazil, overtakes runners, wins medal

A video has been circulating on social media of an intoxicated man unexpectedly joining an eight-kilometer race in Garrafão do Norte, a municipality in Brazil.
According to recordings posted on digital platforms, the individual, identified as Isaque, decided to join the tour without prior registration, wearing casual clothing and a pair of sandals.

According to users, the unusual moment was recorded last Sunday, August 3, when a local sports academy was holding a competition day with some of its members.
In the images, you can see that the man started with the other participants from the starting point and quickly took the lead, leaving most of the athletes behind.
Although many in the audience believed that Isaque would be unable to complete the race and would drop out of the competition during the initial kilometers, to everyone's surprise, he was the first to cross the finish line.
Once the man overtook the pack and successfully completed the course, the event organizers approached him to congratulate him and present him with a medal of recognition for his participation.

Far from becoming a joke for the attendees and athletes at the meeting, several members of the academy pledged to help the man turn his life around.
In that sense, some people offered to donate sportswear and running shoes so he could train with the academy team and register for upcoming events.

“I had been drinking, and when I saw the crowd, I thought, ‘I'm going to run to get rid of my hangover,’” he explained during an interview for his social media profile, which was created by one of the viewers who was interested in his life story.
Her case became so popular on digital platforms that a dental clinic in Brazil offered her a fully paid treatment to restore her smile and improve her appearance.
