Europe, the star of the 20th anniversary of the Hay Festival Segovia

From 11 to 14 September 2025, the Hay Festival will celebrate its twentieth edition in Segovia, focusing on the future of Europe. Prominent participants include figures such as Enrico Letta , Nick Clegg, Josep Borrell, Minouche Shafik, historians Paul Preston and Orlando Figes, philosophers AC Grayling and Rob Riemen, and authors such as Javier Cercas, Leonardo Padura, Dolores Redondo, María Dueñas , and Juan Gabriel Vázquez. The festival will also feature international debates, such as the FT Weekend, on the transatlantic alliance.
The program will also include collaborative projects with organizations such as the Open Society Foundations, CAF, AECID, and Acción Cultural Española, as well as free activities in universities and prisons, and live broadcasts to ensure digital accessibility.
Festival director Sheila Cremaschi emphasizes the role of culture as a tool for resistance and reflection at a critical moment for Europe. Meanwhile, Julie Finch, CEO of Hay Festival Global, highlights the value of thought and storytelling in addressing global challenges.
With the support of institutions such as Segovia City Council, the Regional Government of Castile and León, the Banco Sabadell Foundation, and the British Embassy, the festival will once again transform the city (a World Heritage Site) into an international meeting point for ideas.
