A true gem for film collectors and Star Wars fans will go up for auction in September: an original Rebel pilot helmet worn in the Battle of Hoth from The Empire Strikes Back (1980), the fifth installment of George Lucas's stellar saga. The price is estimated at between $200,000 and $400,000. This piece, of extremely high historical and cinematic value, is still in its original condition without restoration.
The helmet, created specifically for the scenes on the ice planet Hoth, was designed by John Mollo , legendary costume designer who won an Oscar for his work on the galactic saga.

The specialized auction house Propstore will be selling it as part of its Los Angeles entertainment memorabilia auction, a must-see for those seeking original film memorabilia . Its exclusivity lies in the fact that only two similar units exist with the original casing intact.
Custom-made for the scenes with the pilots of the so-called snowspeeders , this helmet is one of a small group of surviving props from the shoot, as many were discarded at the end of production. Its provenance is also well documented: it originally belonged to Patricia Carr , who worked as a production assistant on the original Star Wars trilogy.
The collector community and fans of the franchise consider the Rebel pilot helmets to be some of the most coveted items in the series, even surpassing the Imperial helmets , which were produced in greater quantities. Propstore has already broken records with other items from the series, such as Chewbacca 's projectile, which reached 768,000 euros, or Luke Skywalker's medal from the Battle of Yavin, which sold for more than 370,000 euros. Everything indicates that this new item will not be far behind.
