Jim Morrison bust stolen 37 years ago from Père Lachaise Cemetery (Paris) has been found.

Jim Morrison bust stolen 37 years ago from Père Lachaise Cemetery (Paris) has been found.

The bust of singer Jim Morrison , stolen 37 years ago from Paris's famed Père Lachaise cemetery, was accidentally discovered during a police search during a fraud investigation.

The Paris Police Prefecture announced on social media on Monday the discovery of the sculpture, created by Croatian artist Mladen Mikulin , which was stolen at night with no clues as to its creators.

Morrison, singer and leading figure of the group The Doors, died in Paris in 1971 , and although his death was officially declared due to heart failure in his apartment on Beautreillis Street , several witnesses later pointed to an overdose in a nightclub, which was hidden by authorities and friends.

His tomb, one of the most famous

His tomb is one of the most famous in the Père Lachaise cemetery , despite the fact that it is home to many great figures, such as Oscar Wilde, Frédéric Chopin, Yves Montnad and Sarah Bernhardt.

The bust was placed in 1981 to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the musician's death , and just seven years later it was stolen.

A search conducted by the Paris police's Financial and Anti-Corruption Brigade found the bust at the Paris home of a company executive under investigation for falsifying accounting documents.

Authorities have not yet clarified whether the bust will be returned to its original location.
