Rockstar surprise-releases second GTA VI trailer and reveals the names of its protagonists

Grand Theft Auto VI , the most anticipated video game of recent years, has surprisingly released a second trailer that shows the story of the game, which will hit the market in May 2026. The trailer, which does not show sequences of the game but cinematic videos of the story, advances the story of its two protagonists: Jason and Lucia, a pair of small-time criminals who will raze a digital city of Miami . The influx of views has been so massive that it has broken the YouTube visit counter: an hour after its release, the video had just over 39,000 views... but more than 220,000 comments and 1.9 million Likes.
This second trailer comes after the news that came as a shock to fans around the world: the delay of the game, initially planned for autumn of this year, to May 2026. The video, just over two minutes long, offers new scenes of Vice City, the fictional version of Miami in the GTA universe, which shines with an unprecedented level of detail. Crowded streets, beaches, neon lights, helicopters, chases, and all kinds of scenes that boast spectacular visuals. It also offers a lot of information about its protagonists, starting with their full names: Jason Duval and Lucía Caminos. One of the trailer's big draws is precisely the increased focus on the protagonists: Lucia, the first playable female protagonist in the series, and her partner. The pair displays a chemistry reminiscent of the classic dynamics of heist films. The game's first trailer, released in late 2023, garnered over 100 million views on YouTube in less than 24 hours, a sign of the excitement surrounding the title.
The game, the sixth installment in the Grand Theft Auto series , is one of the most anticipated in recent years. Not surprisingly, the fifth installment in the series, released in 2013, has become the highest-grossing cultural product in history, with over €8 billion in revenue. Much of that money has come from the 185 million copies sold across all platforms, but much of it has also come from its multiplayer mode, which has steadily gained users over the past decade.
Social media, as expected, has exploded. In just a few minutes, "GTA VI" has become a worldwide trend, with fans already analyzing image by image in search of clues, secrets, and hidden details. With this second trailer, Rockstar further cements the feeling that GTA VI will not just be a game, but a global cultural phenomenon. The game is also the highest-budget game ever, with an estimated cost of $2 billion.
