Sergio Rodríguez cuts three ears and is proclaimed winner of the 2025 Chenel Cup

The Ávila-born bullfighter Sergio Rodríguez, who earned three ears, was declared the winner of this year's Chenel Cup, the two-man final of which was held yesterday in the Madrid town of Valdetorres del Jarama, in a head-to-head encounter with Cádiz-born Daniel Crespo. This victory guarantees his presence on the October 12th card at Las Ventas.
In the bullfight, with three-quarters of the square's capacity filled, two bulls from Concha and Sierra were fought, another two from Zacarías Moreno (2nd and 5th) and two more from Victoriano del Río (3rd and 4th), of varying presence, with these last two and the second from Moreno standing out for their bravery.
Rodríguez, who had a balance of one ear with a request for the second, two ears and silence after a warning with his lot, was varied with the cape with a demanding first, committed with the good fourth of Victoriano del Río, who turned it over without consequences before cutting off the two ears, and was more than enough in a long traverse with the unraveled sixth of Concha y Sierra, which he pricked.
His banderillero, Jesús Fernández, was also gored by the fourth bull, which inflicted a less serious goring, 10 centimeters, in the scrotum.
Daniel Crespo opened the mano a mano, with a silent outcome after a warning for the first two and an ovation for the fifth. He distributed details of quality and good taste with the three bulls in his lot: a noble and dull first, a serious and demanding third from Victoriano del Río, and another noble one from Zacarías Moreno, although also with the common note of his poor success with the sword in all cases.
