The Gabo Festival arrives in Bogotá with free tickets: What talks will be featured at the 2025 journalism event?

One of the greatest gifts Gabo left behind, besides the yellow butterflies and endless hours of reading that draw anyone into magical worlds, is the festival that bears his name, which this year will take place from July 25 to 27 in Bogotá.
During these holidays, the Colombian capital will become the epicenter of the best stories from Latin America during the 13th edition of the Gabo Festival. With more than 100 events and 150 guests from 22 countries on five continents , the largest celebration of history and culture will open all its doors free of charge to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Gabo Foundation.
Please note that admission to the talks and other activities is free. However, you must register in advance of the talks to be admitted. This can be done through the event website.

Under the concept "Seeing Each Other Up Close," the Gabo Festival proposes three days of stimulating thought and imagination in spaces that provoke reflection and invite us to imagine a future where all voices count. Year after year, the festival has emphasized how good journalism transcends pain and denunciation, and how its ongoing practice, hand in hand with masters and audiences, accentuates the richness of that "creative spring" that Gabo described in his Nobel Prize acceptance speech.
This event is possible thanks to a partnership with more than 40 international organizations, 20 of which are journalistic entities that promote the profession from multiple perspectives: Reporters Without Borders, the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford, the International Press Institute (IPI), the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), and the Foundation for Press Freedom (FLIP) in Colombia.
Some of the notable guests for this occasion are: Andrés Mompótes, director of the publishing house EL TIEMPO; Jon Lee Anderson, reporter for The New Yorker; Ana Bejarano Ricaurte, director of El Veinte; Scott Griffen, executive director of the International Press Institute (IPI); María Alejandra Torres Agudelo, visual artist; Laura Zommer, co-founder and CEO of Factchequeado.
