The story of a hammock that moves to the rhythm of a song

La Hamaca is the latest single from Son San , the Bolívar-based band with over 40 years of experience, a pioneer in the fusion of traditional rhythms from Colombia's Caribbean coast with Antillean and African sounds. The song will be featured on the group's new album, the sixth of their musical career.
This is a song that, with humor, invites you to relax and tells the story of how its composer, Manuel Torres Teherán, prefers to be at home with his wife after a tour, relaxing in his hammock.
The sound of this song, like that of the rest of the album, due out in June, seeks to preserve the legacy of this iconic group, a pioneer of what is now known as champeta. In the 1980s, Son San decided to fuse folk sounds with those of the electric guitar, electric bass, and saxophone , giving their music an international character.
“This new album is about continuing to breathe life into Son San’s past. We started our music in 1984, and we want to maintain that artistic legacy and keep it alive. The album features ten versatile tracks for all tastes, but we’ve always tried to maintain that originality that identifies us as Son San Music,” says Víctor Valdés, the band’s singer. It’s released this month and is worth checking out.
