The winners of the 'Ojo Crítico' awards are calling for the program to remain on RNE.

Following the announcement by RNE management that it was withdrawing the program 'El ojo crítico' from its daily broadcast on Radio Nacional and moving it to Radio 5, around fifty winners of the Ojo Crítico Awards in various editions and disciplines have signed a statement in which they assert the commitment of public radio to supporting, promoting and disseminating culture, and ask management to keep the program on Radio Nacional , where it has been broadcast uninterruptedly for the past 42 years.
The text, written by such prominent figures as Jaume Plensa , José Sacristán , and Rosa Montero, is entitled "In Critical Times, a More Critical Eye," and throughout its text, it emphasizes the importance and necessity of a format dedicated to intellectual and creative dissemination. "Culture must be considered a universal good, always essential, and even more so in these turbulent times that demand bridges, not walls, that demand knowledge and sensitivity in the face of hatred and unreason. Therefore, it would be incomprehensible if RTVE, after 40 years, decided to relegate its most symbolic cultural program to distance it from public opinion. In critical times, more Critical Eye», defend those who sign the document and also add, by way of closing: «With the respect, appreciation and gratitude that links us with 'El Ojo Crítico' and its awards, which have recognized, promoted and stimulated the work of hundreds of young talents in narrative, poetry, cinema, theater, comics, classical music, modern music, visual arts and dance, we defend that this decision be reconsidered and that 'El Ojo Crítico' continue on RNE».

As part of the enormous unrest generated at public radio stations by the marginalization of the program "El ojo crítico" (The Critical Eye) from RNE and the relegation of other cultural programs to marginal time slots, employees of Radio Nacional de España have revived "Black Fridays" as a form of protest against RTVE management's disregard for culture in the design of next season's programming. This unrest is not only due to decisions affecting the daily program, which Laura Barrachina hosted on RNE these past years until her departure, and which Laura Martínez will now host on Radio 5, but also due to those affecting other programs, including "La estación azul" (The Blue Station), which moves to the early morning hours; "Documentos" (Documents), which will air at midnight from Sunday to Monday; "A hombro de gigantes" (On the Shoulders of Giants), which moves to Radio 5; and "Músicas posibles" (Possible Music), which will end in podcast format. "Nómadas" (Nomads), "Jardines en el bolsillo" (Gardens in the Pocket), and "En danza" (Dance) will no longer be broadcast. In parallel, RNE is bringing back "Popular Classics" as part of the evening program hosted by David Cantero.
