Xbox Showcase 2025: The next Call of Duty game is confirmed to be Black Ops 7.

During the closing of the Xbox Showcase 2025, Activision officially unveiled ' Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 ', the next installment in its renowned first-person shooter series. The video game, developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, will be the first in the Black Ops sub-franchise to be released consecutively after the recent Black Ops 6, and will be set in a near future marked by global collapse and psychological manipulation.

According to '3DJuegos', the first trailer for 'Black Ops 7', presented during the Xbox event, showed a cinematic preview without gameplay, focused on a futuristic aesthetic and espionage narrative. The game is set in 2035, more than four decades after the events of 'Black Ops 2' and 'Black Ops 6', and incorporates a setting of hyper-technological warfare, conspiracies, and constant action.

For its part, the official 'Call of Duty' website describes it as "the most disturbing Black Ops installment to date," highlighting the participation of 'David Mason' and his team facing an enemy that uses fear as its main weapon. Matt Cox, general manager of the franchise, stated that the title will offer "the complete 'Call of Duty' package" with an integrated campaign experience, multiplayer, and the classic Zombies mode.

One of the main innovations will be the co-op campaign mode , which will allow two players to explore the story together. According to 'AnimeNew', this mode promises a more dynamic and immersive narrative, with an emphasis on strategic interaction between characters. As for multiplayer, new technological weapons and maps designed for experimentation will be incorporated.

The round-based zombies mode also returns, now set in a new version of the Dark Aether universe. This approach maintains the essence of suspense and frenetic action, but introduces new elements that integrate into the dystopian setting.

According to Variety, Black Ops 7 will feature actors Milo Ventimiglia (David Mason), Kiernan Shipka (Emma Kagan), and Michael Rooker (Mike Harper), who will lend their voices and motion capture to the main characters . Shipka will play the CEO of an organization called The Guild, while Rooker reprises his role from previous installments.

The same outlet notes that this release has not been affected by the SAG-AFTRA union strike, as 'Black Ops 7' is not listed as a contested title.

'Black Ops 7' will be available from day one on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, and will launch on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam, Battle.net, and Xbox PC. The decision, according to Activision, seeks to expand access and strengthen the franchise's presence on digital services.

Activision's head of marketing, Tyler Bahl, explained to Variety that the strategy of releasing consecutive installments is intended to "prolong players' connection to the narrative" and provide "a more cohesive experience."
