A signaling incident causes delays to trains departing and arriving at Atocha.

As a large part of the Spanish population prepares to begin their vacations this Friday, heading to the coast or the mountains, a new incident has caused delays in trains passing through the Puerta de Atocha-Almudena Grandes station, to the despair of travelers eager to begin their summer vacation.
High-speed and medium-distance trains arriving and departing from Madrid's station are experiencing delays of between 15 and 30 minutes , according to sources from Renfe who spoke to ABC. Both the transport company and Adif announced the situation on their social media channels shortly before 6 p.m.
"High-speed trains arriving and departing from Puerta de Atocha-Almudena Grandes are experiencing delays due to an incident affecting the signaling. Work is underway to resolve it as quickly as possible," Adif wrote on its information profile on X, formerly Twitter.

The delays affect all trains departing and arriving at Atocha station, resulting in delays to high-speed trains traveling to Andalusia, Zaragoza, Barcelona, and the Levantine coast, among other destinations. Medium-distance trains, such as those bound for Toledo, Guadalajara, Alcalá de Henares, Aranjuez, and so on, are also experiencing this situation.
Some users have complained on social media: " Delays of an hour, no information so far and no forecast for restoring service. Disappointing service," one traveler wrote on her X account.
