Agreement signed for labor inclusion of vulnerable people

The Ministry of Labor signed an inter-institutional cooperation and collaboration agreement with private sector entities on Wednesday, with the aim of promoting active inclusive employment policies for vulnerable people .
Labor Minister Eddy Olivares explained that the objective of this agreement is to establish an "Employer Network" to support the employment of survivors of human trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation, and other vulnerable groups.
Olivares emphasized the shared responsibility of the State and the private sector to ensure that no one is left out of the workforce .
"Work has a very important component of social awareness , and exclusion is the enemy of work. Where there is exclusion, there is an injustice so profound that it cannot be hidden under any circumstances," Olivares said.
Meanwhile, the executive president of the Association of Commercial Banks (ABA), Rosanna Ruiz Concepción, reaffirmed the banking sector 's commitment to inclusion, "aware that Dominican commercial banking plays a key role in building a more inclusive and sustainable economy."
" Forty-four percent of households in the country are headed by women, many of whom live in vulnerable situations. Promoting their access to decent work is essential to breaking cycles of poverty and opening up real opportunities for development," said Ruiz Concepción.
Through this public-private partnership, the ministry and private sector entities seek to create effective conditions for access to decent work by providing training, guidance, and placement to individuals belonging to groups historically excluded from the labor market, including:
- People with disabilities
- Single mothers
- Women victims of violence
- People living with HIV
- Families at risk of child labor, among others
The agreement was signed with the Employers' Confederation of the Dominican Republic (Copardom), the Banco de Reservas, the Banco Popular Dominicano, the Banco BHD, and the Association of Multiple Banks (ABA).
This initiative is supported by the Inter-American Development Bank's (IDB) Flexible Employment System Support Program (RD-Trabaja ) and the Support Program for Labor Inclusion for Survivors of Trafficking, Commercial Sexual Exploitation, and Other Vulnerable Groups in the Dominican Republic.
The creation of this employer network represents a strategic step toward building a more just and inclusive labor market that recognizes the value and potential of all sectors of Dominican society.
Present at the signing were Ángel Mora, Director of the Cabinet of Ministers; Mairenys Corniel, Vice Minister for Vulnerable Sectors and Child Labor; Demetrio Paulino, Vice Minister of Mediation and Arbitration; Yissell Villar, Director of Equal Opportunities and Non-Discrimination; and Benny Metz and Alexis Alcántara, President and Executive Director of the National Council for the Disabled (Conadis), respectively.
Also present were Doris Laura Uribe Velázquez, Executive Vice President of Government Affairs at Banco de Reservas ; Martha María Peralta Berigüete, Senior Vice President of Talent and Culture at Banco BHD; and María De Los Ángeles Povedano Rodríguez, Executive Vice President of Human Resources at Banco Popular Dominicano.
