Cuerva and De Miguel emerge as the only candidates to preside over Cepyme

The deadline for submitting candidacies for the presidency of Cepyme (Spanish Confederation of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises) closed last Saturday, May 10th, with two entries: Gerardo Cuerva , current president of the board, and Ángela De Miguel , president of CEOE Valladolid and candidate proposed by Antonio Garamendi, CEOE leader.
The Cepyme elections will be held next Tuesday, May 20 , in which representatives of the 147 regional and sectoral organizations that make up the employers' association will elect the president and Executive Committee of the Confederation for the next four years.
In recent weeks , it had been rumored that there could be up to four candidates vying for the presidency . The first to mention the existence of a third person was Gerardo Cuerva in an interview with elEconomista.es , and days later, his campaign manager, Gonzalo Garnica —who was communications director for the long-time CEOE president, José María Cuevas—speculated about a fourth person who would spring a surprise on Saturday if he or she garnered enough support.
Finally, the candidates will be Gerardo Cuerva and Ángela de Miguel, the only ones who have obtained the endorsement of 10 organizations or 40 members necessary to present a candidacy for the presidency of the small and medium-sized business association. Despite rumors, no other business leader had publicly expressed their willingness to run .
