Bitcoin, the most well-known and traded cryptocurrency on the market, achieved several record highs last Thursday—the latest at $111,980—while accumulating a 15 percent appreciation this year.
Although it subsequently deflated and is currently at $107,500 this Saturday, experts expect the cryptocurrency to continue rising, driven by several reasons. One of them is optimism surrounding stablecoin regulation and the favorable shift in regulatory focus under the administration of US President Donald Trump, according to Manuel Pinto, market analyst at XTB.
This week, the Texas Senate passed legislation creating a state-backed Bitcoin reserve, allowing the state to store cryptocurrencies as part of its strategic reserves, like central banks but focused on digital assets.
This will keep Bitcoin in safe custody as an alternative economic backstop to the dollar, something investors have interpreted as institutional validation.
Analysts point out that Bitcoin is also benefiting from the depreciation of the dollar, as historically, when its value has declined, the cryptocurrency has experienced significant gains.
In this regard, Simon Peters, an expert crypto-asset analyst at the investment platform eToro, has also estimated that the cryptocurrency's recent highs could be just the beginning of something much bigger.

In his opinion, there are several factors that could lead to a price explosion. These include an increase in global liquidity and a large number of buyers seeking a fixed price.
"More and more publicly traded companies are adopting Bitcoin treasury strategies, purchasing billions of dollars at a time," notes the analyst, who asserts that pension and sovereign wealth funds are also increasing their exposure to the cryptocurrency.
" It remains to be seen where this bull market will peak . What is clear is that if Bitcoin truly becomes the global reserve currency or asset, its market capitalization (and therefore its price) would need to be well above the current $2.2 trillion," he estimates.
Bitpanda CEO Eric Demuth states that Bitcoin has long ceased to be a niche asset, as institutional investors, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and payment providers "are currently building the infrastructure that will permanently anchor it in the financial system."

The all-time highs " are not a peak, but a statement of intent ," he summarizes. For the expert, behind this "the hand of the United States is clearly felt," which now views cryptocurrencies and digital assets as a central and strategic issue in its financial and economic policy.
