If you're flying Ryanair, be aware: hand luggage size changes in August.

With the arrival of August, Ryanair has announced a change in its baggage policies. The low-cost airline , one of the most popular among travelers, has decided to extend the minimum cabin baggage allowance with the purchase of its cheapest ticket.
Specifically, Ryanair is increasing the width of the free baggage allowance by five centimeters . The size will be 40x20x30 centimeters, compared to the current 40x20x25 centimeters, and the capacity will increase from 20 liters to 24 liters.
Sources from the low-cost airline consulted and reported by Europa Press indicate that this measure is part of an agreement among airlines to adopt a new minimum size for carry-on luggage. They add that it will be slightly larger than the one proposed in the new EU regulations.
With the change, the airline will have to update and replace the baggage meters it has at its airports, something that will happen in the coming weeks .
Even so, when traveling with this airline, passengers should continue to pay attention to the size of their luggage, as not complying with ticket conditions or exceeding the size limit can result in a fine.
Aside from the free bag, which now increases in size and fits under the seat in front of you, Ryanair offers other fares that allow larger suitcases. For example, a cabin suitcase measures 55x40x20 cm with a maximum weight of 10 kilos, and prices range from six to 36 euros at the time of booking.
It's also possible to check in luggage up to 23 kilos, with prices up to 50 euros at the time of booking.
In fact, the airline is currently in dispute with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs over what Pablo Bustinduy's department considers "abusive practices" such as the charge for carry-on baggage. The government considers these practices illegal, and six companies have already been disciplined, awaiting the resolution of their appeals.
In the case of Ryanair, the Irish company was fined the most, €107.7 million , but the TSJM provisionally suspended the fine, albeit with bank guarantees.
Summer is one of the busiest times of year due to the holidays. In fact, airlines have predicted that this summer will set a new record, increasing traffic by 6% and potentially reaching more than 240 million occupied seats, a figure whose achievement will be determined by the end of the season.
