Infotep certifies 36 young people in advertising designs and articles.

Infotep certifies 36 young people in advertising designs and articles.

In an event reaffirming the government 's commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities, the National Institute for Technical and Vocational Training ( Infotep ), in collaboration with the National School for the Deaf, awarded certifications to 36 young people with hearing disabilities who successfully completed the course on Design and Production of Advertising and Promotional Items.

The graduation ceremony took place at the Cibao Norte Regional Directorate (DRCN), where the importance of inclusive technical training to improve the quality of life of these young people was also highlighted.

Since July 2024, more than 60 adolescents and young people with visual, hearing, physical, and cognitive disabilities in the region have benefited from various training programs promoted by Infotep , thus demonstrating its commitment to an institutional policy that promotes equality and access to educational opportunities, according to a press release.

  • The recent training included sign language experts, ensuring the full inclusion of young people with hearing impairments in the training process.

The 36 graduates, including 20 women and 16 men between the ages of 14 and 17, completed their training in March 2025 after an intensive 32-hour course. During the ceremony, the young people presented some of their work, including pillows, T-shirts, and other graphic items made using the techniques they learned, demonstrating their creativity and acquired skills.

During the event, Luis Manuel Rodríguez, regional director of Infotep Cibao Norte, highlighted the inclusive vision promoted by Rafael Santos Badía, general director of Infotep , who has promoted a more humane, innovative, and accessible management approach for all.

"Professor Santos Badía has brought Infotep to where people live, opening its doors to people with disabilities in a dignified and respectful manner," said Rodríguez.

For her part, Andrea Mezón, head of the Northern Technology Center, noted that Santiago "vibrates in inclusion mode" and that these certificates demonstrate Infotep 's mission to transform lives through technical training .

One of the students, Estefany Delgado Delgado, proudly expressed that she learned a trade with the same rights as any other hearing person. "It fills me with joy to see how the deaf community has progressed and receives all the support from teachers, interpreters, and authorities," she commented.

Furthermore, family members also expressed their satisfaction and gratitude, highlighting how the training has helped their children feel useful and happy doing what they love.

Along the same lines, the students demonstrated their creations, including products with colorful graphics, reflecting the creativity and effort invested in the course. The initiative not only fosters technical skills but also promotes the dignity and recognition of the rights of people with disabilities.

The training program continues to develop inclusive initiatives in the region. Currently, two young people with disabilities—Dewry Peña, who is hearing impaired, and Samuel Cruz Arias, diagnosed with autism— are pursuing 690-hour, one-year technical programs in Industrial Electrical Installation and Maintenance.

Samuel Cruz, 23, excitedly shared his experience: "My mother encouraged me to enter Infotep . At first, I thought it would be difficult, but it wasn't. I've already finished my first module and my big dream is to graduate as a technician, and continue learning more every day," he expressed full of enthusiasm, thanking the support of the teachers and interpreters who have made his training possible .

This effort at inclusion and technical training demonstrates the vision of Infotep and the Dominican government to promote a more just and equitable society with equal opportunities for all.
