The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will address the interference situation on the border between the Dominican Republic and Haiti by providing technical and financialsupport to the neighboring country.
This measure will be adopted following a request from the Dominican Telecommunications Institute ( Indotel ), with the purpose of correcting radio interference affecting broadcasters in the border area and guaranteeing the sovereignty of the radio spectrum in Dominican territory.
The proposal was presented by the president of the Indotel Board of Directors, Guido Gómez Mazara , during an official meeting held at the ITU headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland , with the director of the Development Office of that international organization, Cosmas Zavazava , and with Diana Sumimura , of the Radiocommunications Office .
At the meeting, Gómez Mazara raised the need to channel technical and financialresources to Haiti to modernize its radio spectrum monitoring infrastructure, in order to prevent its broadcasting stations from interfering with the Dominican spectrum.
The Dominican official explained that Haiti faces structural limitations , so this proposal seeks a solution based on cooperative solidarity, without compromising the sovereignty of either country.

"The issue of cross-border interference requires joint solutions. We ask the ITU, as a historic ally of our country, to channel its support to Haiti, so that it can have the technical resources it needs and thus guarantee a border free of interference."GuidoGómez Mazara,President of Indotel
The head of Indotel emphasized that this initiative responds to the institution's commitment to technological equity , respect for the regional environment , and strengthening connectivity in the most vulnerable areas of the country.
He stressed that the proposal made to the ITU does not seek funding for the Dominican Republic , but rather is part of a vision of co-responsibility and joint development .
For his part, Cosmas Zavazava , representing the ITU, welcomed the proposal's solidarity-based approach and confirmed the international organization's commitment to supporting this initiative by providing the necessary funds and technical resources to enable Haiti to implement the required solutions.
Sovereignty 4.0
