The Santa Fe Foundation receives the highest global recognition for excellence in nursing care.
The Santa Fe de Bogotá Foundation was officially designated as a Magnet Hospital, an international recognition that honors organizations that demonstrate the highest standards of quality in nursing care and promote "professional, safe, and transformative" work environments.
For more than six years, the Santa Fe de Bogotá Foundation has advanced a rigorous transformation process toward Magnet model standards, evolving to consolidate the nursing team's strategic and clinical leadership, interdisciplinary coordination, the application of scientific evidence, and an institutional commitment to people's well-being," the Foundation said in a statement.

According to the organization, this recognition not only elevates the Foundation's reputation internationally, but also represents a direct and tangible impact on the patient experience, ensuring safe, humane, ethical, and evidence-based care.
“Being recognized with Magnet accreditation reflects our commitment to safe, compassionate, and excellent care. This achievement directly benefits our patients, their families, and the entire community, strengthening trust in our care,” emphasized Henry Gallardo, CEO of the Santa Fe de Bogotá Foundation.
Magnet accreditation is based on five fundamental pillars:
  1. Transformational leadership
  2. Structural empowerment
  3. Exemplary professional practice
  4. Generation of new knowledge, innovation and improvement
  5. Measurable empirical results
“Magnet accreditation is not only a badge of quality or recognition, but also a reflection of the Santa Fe de Bogotá Foundation's ongoing commitment to the professional development of nursing professionals under the highest global standards. Being a Magnet organization is a source of pride because it demonstrates the passion and dedication of the Santa Fe de Bogotá Foundation's nursing team to providing excellent care based on evidence, innovation, and leadership,” added Santa Fe.

For her part, Sandra Cortés, Director of Nursing at the Santa Fe de Bogotá Foundation, stated that "being recognized as a Magnet organization is a historic milestone that reaffirms our culture of interdisciplinary quality, the professionalism of our nursing team, and our higher purpose: to positively transform healthcare in Colombia and the region."
What is Magnet?
Magnet Accreditation, awarded by the American Nurses Association (ANCC), is the highest recognition for healthcare institutions for excellence in the workplace and the positive impact on the safety and quality of care. Being a Magnet organization especially highlights the fundamental contribution of the nursing team to the development of the profession, institutional standing, and the achievement of organizational objectives.
In this sense, Magnet Accreditation is the highest recognition a healthcare institution can receive for its optimal work environment and its positive impact on the safety and quality of care.
To qualify as a Magnet-designated organization, the Santa Fe de Bogotá Foundation managed 18 outcome indicators for key topics such as clinical outcomes, nursing staff satisfaction, work environment, and patient satisfaction.
For eight consecutive quarters, these indicators have remained at levels equal to or higher than an international benchmark, reflecting the commitment to excellence in care and continuous improvement.
“The Foundation has surpassed global benchmarks in pediatric intravenous infusions, falls prevention, burn prevention, and hypertension,” said David Marshall, president of the American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Commission.
