Opal Suchata Chuangsri is Miss World 2025
Thai model Opal Suchata Chuangsri , 21, won the Miss World beauty pageant crown on Saturday, the 72nd edition of which was held in the Indian state of Telangana.
The winner, an international relations student, became the first representative from Thailand to win this title, receiving the crown from Czech Krystyna Pyszková at the end of a three-hour televised gala in which participants from more than 100 countries and territories competed.
In the final round of questions, the Thai singer emphasized the importance of speaking through actions, keeping in mind that " there's always someone " who looks to beauty queens as examples or role models.
Opal, as she is known in the world of beauty pageants, finished as third runner-up in Miss Universe 2024 , whose crown was won by Danish Victoria Kjaer .
Upon announcing her participation in this year's Miss World pageant, Miss Universe organizers removed her from third place for violating the exclusivity clauses that bind the five finalists each year.
Ethiopian Hasset Dereje Admassu took second place tonight, where she was also crowned Miss World Africa, while the representatives of Martinique and Poland took home the continental titles of America and the Caribbean and Europe , respectively.
Controversy- This year's edition did not escape controversy due, among other reasons, to the resignation of the representative from England , Milla Magee , who reported having been subjected to exploitation , an accusation that the organization flatly denied, stating that the model withdrew due to a family emergency.
Likewise, the Telangana government's decision to allocate approximately $24 million to the Miss World pageant, amid budgetary constraints and conflicting priorities, sparked a heated political dispute in India.
