PUCMM opens film studio on its Santo Domingo campus

The Pontifical Catholic Mother and Teacher University ( PUCMM ) inaugurated its new film studio this Tuesday, a space designed to strengthen the practical training of students in the School of Communication and promote audiovisual production from the academic, artistic, and institutional spheres.
This new PUCMM film studio has a soundproofed and controlled filming area, equipped with a neutral background, from where fiction, documentary , music video and commercial productions can be made.
It also features a dressing room for makeup and wardrobe, a room for secure storage of camera equipment , lights, and accessories, and security systems with cameras and sensors.
- This new space is located on the first level of building B1 on its Santo Domingo campus.
The opening ceremony was led by the rector of PUCMM , Reverend Father Dr. Secilio Espinal, who blessed this space .

"Today we thank the entire university team that made this project possible, but also the entire team that will use it appropriately and pertinently to develop the skills and competencies that the film market demands in our students ," the rector emphasized.
Importance of the study
He also highlighted that this opening coincides with a remodeling process for this B1 building , which houses the first Banreservas Café and has included renovations to the fifth floor, and soon to come, the sixth and seventh.
"And so, gradually, we will have the entire building renovated to meet the standards demanded by higher education, with a suitable, effective space for growth and acceptance for our faculty and students."
For her part, the director of the School of Communication , Dr. Ana Bélgica Güichardo, thanked the academic authorities for their support in opening this space: "From the very beginning, they were enthusiastic about the idea of a film studio and began searching for what you know is important for this type of dream, which are the resources ."
In his speech , Güichardo also thanked the vice-rectors Julio Ferreira and Félix Amaury Pérez Caba, the dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts, Mariano Rodríguez, the professors, the Administrative Department that was involved, the company Acústicos Artesanales that was in charge of soundproofing the space, the technical and administrative team of the School of Communication and the students, "who make it all worthwhile."
During the event, Professor Mariano Rodríguez , Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts, gave the welcoming remarks .
"This space further strengthens the education our students receive and what our graduates will then demonstrate," he said, adding that this new study demonstrates that perseverance, consistency, and trust in God work wonders .
The event was attended by Celidette Heredia, Head of Training and Education at the General Directorate of Film (DGCINE), representing director Mariana Vargas Gurilieva.
In addition, the academic coordinators, professors, and students of the School of Communication participated , giving them the opportunity to see the new facilities.
