Santo Domingo Este will have a new School of Music and Fine Arts

With the goal of promoting cultural development and strengthening the identity of Santo Domingo Este, the Minister of Culture , Roberto Ángel Salcedo, and the mayor of the municipality, Dio Astacio, signed an inter-institutional agreement that will allow the opening of a School of Music and Fine Arts in this district.

The initiative seeks to promote local talent and facilitate access to artistic and educational activities for the entire community, as well as generate new opportunities for the development of cultural spaces in the municipality.

As part of the agreement, educational programs , festivals , and activities celebrating the country's cultural roots will be developed, fostering citizen participation and the cultural enrichment of Santo Domingo Este.

The Ministry of Culture is committed to providing professors and a coordinator from the General Directorate of Fine Arts for the Music Academy. It will also promote the creation of literary workshops, encourage the publication of local works, strengthen the Juan Sánchez Lamouth Literary Workshop, and support municipal short story and poetry competitions.

For its part, the Santo Domingo Este City Council will facilitate an extension of the Music Academy at the Parada de la Cultura , where it will provide six classrooms and the necessary musical instruments .

• These actions seek to encourage the artistic and literary development of children, youth, and adolescents in the municipality.
• With this agreement, Santo Domingo Este advances toward its consolidation as a benchmark in the promotion of art and culture , providing its citizens the opportunity to develop their artistic skills and strengthen their ties to Dominican cultural heritage.
