Acciona declares its "total ignorance" of the facts and opens an internal investigation.

The company has issued a press release declaring its "total ignorance, surprise, and concern" about the events and announcing an internal investigation to "clarify these facts and, where appropriate, determine any personal responsibilities."

The Acciona company, which the Civil Guard links to the so-called Koldo case due to alleged fraudulent contracts and the alleged payment of bribes to members of the Government and the PSOE, has issued a press release in which it declares its "total ignorance, surprise and concern" about the events, and announces an internal investigation to "clarify these events and, where appropriate, determine any personal responsibilities that may arise."

This is the full text of Acciona's statement:

"In relation to the public information referring to ACCIONA's subsidiary, Acciona Construcción, regarding certain irregularities in public procurement , which are currently being investigated by the Supreme Court, ACCIONA expresses its complete ignorance, surprise, and concern regarding the aforementioned events.

ACCIONA is a multinational infrastructure company that develops projects in more than 40 countries, with a turnover of 19.19 billion euros in 2024 and more than 65,000 employees .

Regarding the facts and conduct expressly attributed to people at some point linked to ACCIONA, it is reported that the former employee Fernando Agustín Merino Vera , who is expressly named in the aforementioned judicial proceedings, was dismissed from the company on April 12, 2021. In any case, and in view of the possible circumvention of internal controls that may have occurred, the company has opened an investigation to clarify these facts and to determine , where appropriate, any personal responsibilities that may arise.

On the other hand, it is indicated that the creation of temporary business associations (UTEs), through the integration of companies with a local presence, is a common working method for large corporations to execute projects within the infrastructure sector in all countries.

In this sense, in all the UTEs in which ACCIONA participates, formal commitments are always established with a contractual nature of respect and subjection to the most demanding standards of regulatory compliance and due diligence by all its members, whose compliance is constantly verified and audited , both with internal and external methods (such as the Risk & Compliance service of Dow Jones) and to which the Company itself and the members of all the UTEs in which it participates are subject.

If, during the course of investigations by the authorities or those being conducted internally by ACCIONA, the published information implicating other companies that have participated in joint ventures in which ACCIONA has been a part is confirmed , the company will take appropriate legal action .
