Adán Augusto reappears at Morena event and accuses him of "politicking"

Adán Augusto López distances himself from any ties to his former Secretary of Security in Tabasco, who is accused of criminal ties. He accuses him of "politicking" during the Morena National Council .
During his public reappearance at the Morena National Council , held this weekend at a hotel on Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City, Adán Augusto López Hernández , current coordinator of the Morena senators and former governor of Tabasco, faced questions about the case of Hernán Bermúdez Requena , his former Secretary of Public Security in the entity.
Bermúdez Requena is a fugitive from justice , accused of alleged ties to organized crime groups. Although his closeness to the current legislator has sparked speculation, Adán Augusto denied any involvement and stated that he had already issued his official position in a statement.
" I've already reported what I had to say, and I hope the authorities do their work, their investigations," he said in a brief and tense interview with the media.

When asked if he knew Bermúdez's background when he appointed him secretary, the senator responded bluntly:
"Look, there's a lot of politicking involved in all of this. I already released the figures on how crime was during the two years and eight months I was governor."
He recalled that at the beginning of his term, Tabasco ranked first in kidnapping and extortion, and asserted that under his administration there had been a significant reduction in these crimes.
"When we took office as the PRD president, at the beginning of September 20th, Tabasco was the leading place for kidnapping. It was the leading place for extortion," the former official explained, distancing himself from the accusations that attempt to link him to the case.
Hernán Bermúdez was head of the Tabasco Public Security Secretariat during the administration of Adán Augusto López. He is currently wanted by the Attorney General's Office (FGR) following an arrest warrant issued against him for alleged links to organized crime and corruption .
The case has generated political controversy, particularly because it involves a former official close to a key figure in Morena, at a time when the party is undergoing internal restructuring ahead of the 2027 elections.
