An influencer was reported for using the tax information of five governors to import clothing.

An influencer was reported for using the tax information of five governors to import clothing.

Valentina Olguin, a 26-year-old influencer from Santiago de Compostela , was reported by Tucumán Governor Osvaldo Jaldo for using tax information to import clothing from the United States. According to judicial sources, the scheme also reportedly affected other governors such as Axel Kicillof, Rogelio Frigerio, Claudio Poggi, and Sergio Ziliotto.

Based in Buenos Aires, Olguin ran a women's clothing store in the Núñez neighborhood. From there, she made purchases from the online store Revolve, which specialized in high-end clothing. Some items cost over $250,000. She used the courier service, which allows up to five shipments per person per year, with a maximum weight of 50 kilos.

To circumvent the limit, he allegedly used other people's CUITs without consent. These included those of five governors. The irregularity was detected when Jaldo received emails containing purchases made from Miami, which he had not authorized.

The case is now in the hands of federal prosecutor José Agustín Chit, of the Third Prosecutor's Office in Tucumán, and Judge José Manuel Díaz Vélez. In recent hours, Olguin's home in Núñez, where the clothing store operated, was raided.

“I acted like any citizen. This can happen to anyone,” Jaldo said after filing the complaint with Customs, the ARCA tax agency, and the Federal Court. He clarified that it wasn't a political attack, but rather a serious situation: “They used our names and personal information. They didn't touch our accounts, but they did violate our identity. This isn't something anyone does; they know the system.”

Valentina Olguin has already been questioned by the prosecutor. She testified accompanied by a public defender. According to reports, she allegedly justified herself by saying that she had exceeded her personal and family tax limits, and that she then sought out other people's tax information to continue her activity.

It is not ruled out that the influencer will be summoned before the Federal Court of Buenos Aires in the coming days. The case exposed illegal use of the courier system and brought the vulnerability of tax data to the forefront. The way she attempted to import luxury clothing using the tax identification numbers of public officials rekindled the debate over controls on foreign purchases.
