Ballots are ready! IEEM completes delivery for the unprecedented 2025 Judicial Election in Edomex; packages are secured.

The Electoral Institute of the State of Mexico (IEEM) has successfully completed the distribution of the ballots for use in the historic 2025 Judicial Process, where citizens will directly elect Circuit Magistrates and District Judges. The distribution proceeded smoothly and with heavy security.

The State of Mexico is preparing for an unprecedented democratic exercise: the election of members of the Judiciary by popular vote. In a crucial step toward this election, the Electoral Institute of the State of Mexico (IEEM) completed the distribution of ballots to the decentralized bodies in key municipalities such as Tlalnepantla, Ecatepec, Nezahualcóyotl, Atlacomulco, and Ixtlahuaca.

Electoral Councilor Karina Vaquera Montoya reported that the delivery of the ballot boxes was carried out without incident and under the protection of officers from the State Security Secretariat, ensuring that the ballots arrived at their destination in a timely manner. This process is vital to ensuring the transparency and legitimacy of the election.

The electoral warehouses where this documentation is stored have strict security measures, including:

* Alarms that detect improper opening of access points.

* Continuous surveillance to prevent any type of manipulation or theft.

The election of Circuit Magistrates and District Judges through citizen vote is a far-reaching reform that seeks to transform the justice system in Mexico. The State of Mexico is one of the pioneering entities in implementing this mechanism.

The National Electoral Institute (INE) also plays a role in this process. Joaquín Rubio Sánchez, executive director of the INE in the State of Mexico, announced that the ballots for Circuit Magistrates, District Judges, and the Fifth District would be received on May 17. It is important to note that other states, such as Puebla, are also undergoing similar processes, where the INE has received millions of ballots for the judicial election to be held on June 1.

"In a timely manner, Electoral Councilor Karina Vaquera Montoya reported that the security measures for the electoral warehouses where this documentation is stored are as follows: They have alarms that detect unauthorized access." (Statements by the IEEM Councilor).

Judicial election: Due to the risk of abstention, dissemination in Quintana Roo is being strengthened.

This election represents a paradigm shift in the composition of the judiciary. Direct citizen participation in the appointment of judges and magistrates is expected to contribute to:

* Greater legitimacy and confidence in the justice system.

* Greater accountability on the part of those who administer justice.

* A possible reduction of political influence in judicial appointments.

Logistical preparation, such as the safe and timely distribution of ballots by the IEEM, is critical to the success of this democratic exercise. The complexity of organizing an election of this nature, which is new to both the electorate and the electoral authorities themselves, requires meticulous planning and effective inter-institutional coordination.

The implementation of robust security measures for safeguarding ballots is not insignificant. It reflects an awareness of the potential risks in any electoral process, but perhaps heightened by the novelty and significance of this judicial election. Ensuring the integrity of the electoral materials is a pillar for the credibility of the results and their acceptance by citizens and political actors.

The IEEM and the INE continue working to ensure that all elements are ready for the June 1st election, when the people of the State of Mexico will have the historic opportunity to directly influence the composition of a crucial part of the justice system.
