One of the key objectives of the meeting was to raise the possibility of expanding Canada's investments in Mexico . In particular, the president emphasized the need for Canadian mining companies to comply with Mexican environmental standards as a condition for operating sustainably.
Claudia Sheinbaum also denied rumors about Walmart's departure from the country. She stated that, during a meeting with the consortium's executives, they confirmed that the company is not only staying in Mexico but also plans to expand its investments .
The president affirmed that Walmart is a company committed to the country and supports the agreements of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) .
