President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that she held meetings with the Canadian Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Finance as part of preparations for Prime Minister Joseph Carney 's upcoming official visit to Mexico.

During her morning press conference, Sheinbaum emphasized that both countries are seeking to strengthen their economic, political, and diplomatic ties , in addition to opening up new investment opportunities.

One of the key objectives of the meeting was to raise the possibility of expanding Canada's investments in Mexico . In particular, the president emphasized the need for Canadian mining companies to comply with Mexican environmental standards as a condition for operating sustainably.

Claudia Sheinbaum also denied rumors about Walmart's departure from the country. She stated that, during a meeting with the consortium's executives, they confirmed that the company is not only staying in Mexico but also plans to expand its investments .

The president affirmed that Walmart is a company committed to the country and supports the agreements of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) .

On another topic, Sheinbaum described the Mexican team's participation in the World Aquatics Championships as historic , highlighting the number of medals won by the divers and synchronized swimmers.
