CNM approves session minutes and deadline for objections to judges expires

The National Council of the Magistracy ( CNM ) met this Friday and approved the minutes of its sessions 9, 10 and 11, in addition to validating 83 applicants for the vacancies for judges of the Supreme Court of Justice and the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).
The session was chaired by the Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, and included the virtual participation of the President of the Constitutional Court, Napoleón Estévez Lavandier, and the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco, who, despite being out of the country, participated via remote connection.


The only item on the agenda was the review and approval of the minutes, which will be signed and published in the "coming hours" on the official CNM website, reported the legal advisor to the Executive Branch, Antoliano Peralta, speaking to the press after the meeting of the organization concluded.
The Council has yet to release the reasons it had for removing judges Pilar Jiménez Ortiz, Manuel Alexis Read Ortiz and Moisés Ferrer Landrón from the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ), who were evaluated on Thursday, October 2nd and it was decided the following day not to ratify them.
The deadline for objections has passedFurthermore, this Friday marked the deadline for submitting objections to candidates for judges of the Supreme Court of Justice and the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).
Of the 86 applications received, three were excluded for not meeting the legal requirements, leaving 83 eligible applicants .
From the total number of applicants, five magistrates will be selected for the Supreme Court of Justice and ten judges for the Superior Electoral Court, five full members and five alternates.
The CNM confirmed that the process will continue according to the planned schedule and should conclude on November 27, while the swearing-in of the new magistrates is scheduled for the following day.
The National Council of the Magistracy is composed of President Luis Abinader; the President of the Senate, Ricardo de los Santos; the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco; the President of the Constitutional Court, Napoleón Estévez Lavandier; the President of the Supreme Court of Justice, Luis Henry Molina; Senator Omar Fernández; Deputy Tobías Crespo and Magistrate Nancy Salcedo Fernández.
