The statement was made by the Union Association of Non-Uniformed Public Servants of the Ministry of National Defense and affiliated entities (Asppmindefensa), which issued a statement to the public rejecting this request led by Carlos Alberto Sánchez Grass.
The statement states that, although Sánchez Grass represents the Confederation of Colombian Workers (UTC) and the Union of Public Servants of the Ministry of Defense, Military Forces, and National Police—affiliated and associated entities (Sinsergen Mindefensa)—he is not the spokesperson for all workers in this sector, and for this reason, his actions should be viewed in that context.
"The lawsuit filed by Mr. Sánchez Grass against Senator Miguel Uribe, to whom we offer our full support in this difficult time, does not represent the interests of this union, and we are unaware of the motives that motivated its initiation. We reiterate: this legal action does not represent the interests of this defense sector union," they stated.
In the final part of the statement, they asked the union leaders who are part of the workers' group "not to obscure the true objective of these groups, which is to ensure the well-being and performance of employees and always seek the best conditions."
What does Carlos Sánchez Grass's lawsuit say? In the lawsuit, Sánchez Grass requests that the congressman be stripped of his office because, according to his arguments, as a senator, he carried out proselytizing and pre-campaign political events on June 7, the day he was the victim of an attack.

On June 20, the petition for disqualification was filed with the high court, which was assigned to the office of the court's president, Judge Luis Alberto Álvarez.
In the document, the plaintiffs asserted that at this political meeting—which they described as an illegal act—“(Uribe) risked his life, which resulted in him being attacked with a weapon by a minor (SIC).”
How is Miguel Uribe doing? Senator and presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay's condition remains extremely serious after spending 20 days in the Intensive Care Unit at the Santa Fe Foundation in Bogotá.

He reported that Uribe remains under management in the ICU in serious condition and indicated that his neurological prognosis is reserved.
They also stated that, after overcoming 16 days of "evolution," he entered a new subacute phase and that there is a de-escalation of his critical condition.
According to specialized portals, the subacute phase is a term used to refer to the intensity of a patient's symptoms, which falls between "acute" and "chronic."
