The Dominican government has provided medical care to 20 members of the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti (MSS) in recent months. This information was confirmed by both Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez and his Kenyan counterpart, Musalia Mudavadi .

This Monday, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Convention Center, Álvarez said that this event represents a source of pride for the country .

"It is a source of profound satisfaction to have assumed, so far, direct responsibility for the medical care of 20 members of the MSS forces, providing them with the dignified, respectful, and supportive care they deserve for their exemplary work, dedication, and sacrifice in support of regional security," he said.

Details regarding this medical assistance are currently unknown. However, the African official made it clear that the agents have received exceptional care from the national authorities.

" We are truly grateful . The reports we're receiving from them show that they have received high-quality support from their country's experts, and we greatly appreciate that," he said.

Signing of agreements

These statements came after the event in which the governments of Kenya and the Dominican Republic signed two agreements through which the Caribbean country will provide support to Kenyan police officers who are members of the MSS in Haiti and will strengthen bilateral cooperation.

In the first memorandum of understanding , both sides agreed to cooperate in medical evacuation, as well as in the repatriation of wounded and deceased members of the Kenyan mission.

Subsequently, a second memorandum was signed between the Institute of Higher Education in Diplomatic and Consular Training of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic and the Foreign Service Academy of the Republic of Kenya , with the aim of strengthening the academic training of diplomatic personnel of both nations.
