Electoral reform will be built with experts, the opposition, and the people: Sheinbaum

President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that her government will listen to all sectors, including experts, the opposition, former INE councilors, and citizens , in the process of building the electoral reform that her administration will soon promote.
During her morning press conference, which focused on Pemex's strategy, the president was questioned about the progress of the electoral process. Although she avoided going into details, she emphasized that the new commission in charge of the proposal will be composed of officials from her cabinet , but will also open spaces for dialogue with various social and political sectors.
"All stakeholders will be heard, not just experts, but also the people," she affirmed. The president also lashed out at former advisors to the now-defunct Federal Electoral Institute, such as Luis Carlos Ugalde , whom she accused of being responsible for the alleged electoral fraud of 2006 .
“There's Ugalde. There are former presidents of the IFE or INE who are now great commentators, but they were the architects of the fraud. People demanded vote by vote, they refused to open the ballot boxes, only 8 percent opened them, and the gap was narrowed. What could be more democratic than that? They refused. But now they're champions of democracy,” Sheinbaum said.
Regarding the possible exclusion of critical or non-government voices, Sheinbaum reiterated that no political or social actor will be closed off . "Everyone will be heard," she assured.
