Judicial Reform: What changes does the Amparo Law propose, according to Sheinbaum?

During the morning press conference , President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced that next Friday, Ernestina Godoy, legal advisor, and former minister Saldívar will attend the morning conference to explain the characteristics of the initiatives sent to comply with the reform of the Judicial Branch .
The president emphasized that the reforms seek to guarantee citizens' right to protection against acts of authority, as well as reduce resolution times once a final Court ruling is issued.
“There may be a final court ruling, but a person can seek protection again under the enforcement of that ruling. If the trial has been going on for 20 years and there's already a court ruling… how can you seek protection multiple times once you have a ruling? These types of issues are addressed in the initiative we submitted,” Sheinbaum explained.
The president explained that one of the main objectives of the Amparo Law is to make the proceedings more agile and expeditious, preventing them from dragging on for decades.
"This has to do with several laws and their timing, allowing for faster case resolution and a more efficient way to avoid cases like those of people who have been in prison for many years without a sentence because of injunctions upon injunctions," he added.
These reforms aim to make the judicial system more efficient , ensuring that citizens' rights are respected without lengthy delays and that sentences are enforced more quickly and effectively.
