Miguel Uribe case: Julio César Turbay, the senator's uncle, says he is still in a delicate condition, but his prognosis is good.

For the past 10 days, since his nephew Miguel Uribe Turbay arrived at the Santa Fe Foundation after being the victim of an assassination attempt in the Modelia neighborhood of Bogotá, former congressman Julio César Turbay Quintero has been constantly visiting the medical center to monitor his health. His statements have been a mix of realism and optimism.

This Tuesday, June 17, the former comptroller was at the Foundation inquiring about his nephew and accompanying María Claudia Tarazona, Miguel's wife, and other family members. However, he was met with false news that the senator had died. His reaction was to repudiate the false statement and, afterward, offer a message of faith in the senator's recovery.

" It's a statement full of hate and lies," said Turbay Quintero, who emphasized that "that's part of what needs to change."

The older brother of Miguel's late mother, Diana Turbay Quintero, emphasized that he "is fighting a great battle for life."

Later, when a journalist asked him what he knew about the presidential candidate, he responded with the aforementioned mixture of reality and hope: "He's still in a delicate condition, but his prognosis is good," he noted.

EL TIEMPO reported this Tuesday that the false statement was dated June 17 at 2:41 pm. In it, they fraudulently used the logo of the Santa Fe Foundation and the signature of the institution's medical director, Adolfo Llinás Volpe .

Because of the similarity of the fake statement to the real one, several people—including some politicians—believed it was real and even shared it.

The Santa Fe Foundation, through its social media channels, stated that this is a false medical report and urged the public to seek information only through its official channels.

"All official information is released exclusively through our verified channels. We recommend refraining from disseminating information from unofficial sources," he stated.

The Santa Fe de Bogotá Foundation released a new medical report on Miguel Uribe's condition this Tuesday morning. This has been the only official communication so far today.

The medical center reported that following emergency surgery for intercerebral bleeding on Senator Miguel Uribe, the candidate's clinical condition is "extremely serious, with a reserved prognosis."
