Sheinbaum demands that the Attorney General's Office get to the bottom of the fuel theft case.

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo asked the Attorney General's Office (FGR) to thoroughly investigate the customs huachicol scheme detected in March, after the Navy acknowledged the irregularities.
Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles , head of the Navy, admitted that accepting what happened was difficult and that remaining silent would have been unforgivable. Following that statement, Sheinbaum emphasized that the prosecutor's office must determine who was involved, even if it involves members of the Armed Forces , because "getting to the bottom of the matter strengthens institutions."
The president explained that the case came to light when a ship carrying illicit hydrocarbons arrived in Tampico , where the Navy itself detected the irregularities and filed a complaint. Since then, the Attorney General's Office (FGR) has been investigating and is seeking to determine how many companies participated in the smuggling .
Sheinbaum emphasized that it is the prosecutor's office's responsibility not only to identify those responsible within the institutions, but also to determine how many private companies participated in the fuel smuggling network , which operated from customs.
The president defended the integrity of the Armed Forces , highlighting the bravery of Admiral Morales Ángeles and General Ricardo Trevilla Trejo , head of the Sedena (National Security Forces). She asserted that the majority of the members are "patriotic and upright."
In response to criticisms that seek to link former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his children, Sheinbaum maintained that these are unfounded accusations:
"President López Obrador is a man of integrity, and the Mexican people know it. This criticism falls flat on its own."
Finally, the president reiterated that there will be no impunity in cases of corruption or fuel smuggling under her administration:
"As soon as it was detected, action was taken. Today, it's investigated and punished. That's the difference from the past."
