The government is asking the Bogotá mayor's office to review this weekend's restrictions against motorcyclists: this is what the letter says.
Following a meeting this Friday, October 31, between the Deputy Minister for Social Dialogue and Human Rights, Gabriel Rondón , and leaders of the motorcyclists, a letter was sent to the mayor of Bogotá, Carlos Fernando Galán, asking him to review the restrictive measures against these drivers during this weekend.

"This isn't a power struggle with the Mayor's office. After the dialogues, the blockades have decreased. We all agree on the need to regulate Halloween parades, but there can't be a disconnect between the needs of the citizens and the rules implemented by the government," Rondón stated.
The letter sent to the Mayor asks him to review "the impacts of the decree on Bogota families."
Noting that no representative from the Bogotá Mayor's Office attended Friday's meeting, Rondón stated: "Since yesterday (Thursday, October 30) I have been in communication with the Secretary of Government, but it is important that the Secretary of Mobility and the Secretary of Security also join this space."

"We are going to create a national forum for dialogue with the people who derive their livelihood from motorcycles," the official added.
"In the most respectful manner and without infringing upon your administrative independence, we suggest that you review and focus the measures that have been adopted through Decree 528 of 2005, which are in effect between October 30 and November 3 of this year," the letter states.
"This request stems from the fact that the measures ordered through the aforementioned decree directly affect approximately 619,640 people who travel by motorcycle in both the urban and rural areas of the capital and its surrounding municipalities, of which 33.7% use these vehicles to carry out home deliveries, courier services, among others," the letter added.
However, sources from the mayor's office consulted by Caracol Radio stated that the restrictions on motorcyclists in the city will not be changed.
What are the restrictions for motorcyclists this weekend? Decree 528 of 2025 established a restriction on motorcycle passengers this weekend. It began at 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 30 , and will end on Monday, November 3, at 11:59 p.m.

In addition, a second traffic restriction is in place for all motorcycles between 8:00 pm and 5:00 am each day during the same period , preventing motorcycles from traveling at night.
Motorcyclists with a passenger will not be allowed to circulate on strategic high-traffic road corridors such as the North and South highways, the NQS, the Primero de Mayo, Suba, Boyacá, Ciudad de Cali, and Suba avenues, among others.
