The People's Party uses its majority in the Senate to condemn the Attorney General and demand his resignation.

The People's Party (PP) has asserted its absolute majority in the Senate to advance a bill censuring the Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, after the Supreme Court ordered his prosecution for alleged disclosure of secrets, and demanding his "immediate resignation" due to the "serious harm caused."
Alberto Núñez Feijóo's party had brought this demand to the Senate through a non-binding motion demanding the dismissal of the Attorney General. It was ultimately passed in Wednesday's plenary session with the support of the PP, Vox, and UPN, while Junts and PNV abstained, and the PSOE voted against.
The text, which has been approved, "reproaches the actions" of the Attorney General "exposed by the judicial investigations" and demands his immediate resignation due to "the serious damage caused to the Public Prosecutor's Office, hindering its fundamental mission of promoting justice in defense of legality, citizens' rights, and the public interest protected by law."
And if he does not resign, the Popular Party (PP) is urging the government to propose "the immediate dismissal of Álvaro García Ortiz as Attorney General of the State, who is being investigated for the crime of revealing secrets, due to his serious and repeated failure to fulfill his duties and his intolerable conduct in the performance of his duties."
They also propose appointing a new Attorney General "who meets the legal requirements for his or her appointment and who guarantees the suitability, impartiality, professional competence, and independence required for the office."
