Elon Musk confirms that Grok, his conversational AI, is coming to Teslas.

Elon Musk confirms that Grok, his conversational AI, is coming to Teslas.

Elon Musk wants his cars to not only drive themselves, but also talk to their owners. The entrepreneur has announced that Grok , his conversational artificial intelligence system, will soon be integrated into all Tesla vehicles. The tool, which is already offered as an alternative to ChatGPT on the social network X, will be able to act as a personal assistant, language tutor, or narrator, among other capabilities.

“Grok is coming to Tesla vehicles very soon. Next week at the latest,” Elon Musk said on X, responding to a user who commented that, following the Grok 4 announcement broadcast, there had been no mention of AI coming to vehicles. It’s still unclear exactly how AI will be implemented in cars, but it’s likely to be via an upcoming software update (OTA).

On the other hand, Grok 4 is now available on the X platform as of July 10, as Musk confirmed in the live broadcast. The new multimodal model, trained from the ground up by xAI, can reason more accurately, solve complex mathematical problems, and express itself in an informal tone or with different emotional registers. According to the entrepreneur, "most PhDs would fail at things that Grok 4 can solve." The assistant will also be the "voice" of Optimus, the humanoid robot that Tesla continues to develop, and which Musk presented as an essential part of the company's future.

The deployment comes amid recent controversy: earlier versions of Grok have been accused of generating messages containing anti-Semitic content and praising figures like Hitler . The company has been forced to remove AI-generated posts and revise its filters. Musk, however, downplayed the incident and focused his remarks on the new model's technical capabilities.

With Grok 4, xAI seeks to position itself as a real alternative to giants like OpenAI, Google, and Meta. Musk intends for his system to function not only as a chatbot, but also as the basis for voice assistants, robots, and intelligent interfaces in his network of connected products.
