iOS 26 will be available for download starting September 15th: these are the iPhone models that will feature the new operating system.

After three months of beta testing, Apple confirmed that iOS 26 will be available for global download starting September 15.
The new version of the operating system features a complete redesign under the Liquid Glass concept and also features accessibility improvements, AI-powered features, and more robust parental controls.
However, not all users will be able to install the update: the system will only be compatible with iPhone 11 and later models , which leaves out devices such as the iPhone X, XS and XR.
The redesign that changes the user experience The most visible new feature in iOS 26 is Liquid Glass, a translucent design that reflects and refracts the surroundings in menus, icons, and buttons. This update allows the lock screen to dynamically adapt, the time to interact with the wallpaper, and photos to come alive with 3D effects when you move the device, according to Apple's website.
Additionally, app icons change their appearance; they can be light or dark with customizable options and a translucent effect that unifies the aesthetic experience across all system apps.

On the other hand, the company continues to invest in artificial intelligence. The new version of iOS incorporates Apple Intelligence, which allows reminders to be suggested based on emails or messages stored on the device, automatically group tasks, and offer personalized recommendations.
In the Messages app , users can now create polls in group chats , customize conversation backgrounds, see real-time typing indicators, and filter messages from unknown senders.
Highlights include new accessibility tools such as an optimized experience for Braille users, vehicle motion indicators to reduce motion sickness, and options to customize on-screen reading.

In the Parental Controls section, parents can more easily manage their children's accounts, set communication limits, and strengthen security when using the App Store.
CarPlay and battery CarPlay also gets an update with Liquid Glass, new widgets, and the ability to reply to messages directly from the car.
Adaptive Power Mode , meanwhile, automatically optimizes performance and extends battery life, although this feature will be exclusive to iPhone 15 Pro models and later.

With this update, Apple not only offers an attractive visual redesign, but also strengthens its ecosystem of security, productivity, and accessibility, including:
- High-quality audio recording: Compatible with AirPods and AirPods Pro with H2 chip.
- Refreshed Photos: Searching will be easier, organizing into tabs, Library, and Collections, plus swiping to other modes.
- Smart Reminders: Automatic task suggestions and themed lists.
- Personal Journal: Now allows you to create multiple journals, add images, and view entries on an interactive map.
Older models will continue to work, but won't receive the new operating system , which limits their access to Apple Intelligence and other advanced features. Devices that will receive the update include:

iOS 26 will be available for free starting Monday, September 15 , in the section:
- Access the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Enter the General section
- Select Software Update.
The company recommends backing up your data before installing the new system, charging your device to at least 50% , and connecting it to a stable Wi-Fi network.
