OnePlus Nord 5: Power at a reasonable price

The Asian company launches a new mid-range device with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip.
Although headlines and advertising often focus on high-end phones, mid-range phones are the ones that sell the most. OnePlus knows this well, having decided five years ago to add a new family of lower-priced devices to its small catalog: the Nord range.
The Chinese company, which is integrated with the also Asian company Oppo, has announced the new Nord 5, making its objective clear: to bring the power of high-end devices to a mid-range device.
The OnePlus Nord 5 marks a significant milestone for the Nord series, bringing a Snapdragon 8-series chipset to the device lineup for the first time. Specifically, it's powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset , built on a 4-nanometer process.

For gaming enthusiasts, the Nord 5 features the Adreno 735 GPU , which inherits the advanced architecture of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 platform. This translates to over a 90% improvement in graphics performance compared to the Nord 3. The OnePlus Nord 5 can sustain gaming at 144 FPS for up to five consecutive hours on titles like Call of Duty: Mobile and Free Fire.
It also features the new Cryo-velocity VC cooling system, with a massive 7,300 mm² vapor chamber. This keeps the device up to 4.3°C cooler than competing models.
As for the display, it has a 6.83-inch 1.5K Swift OLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate , the smoothest display on a OnePlus device.
The Nord 5 also boasts a main rear camera with the 50MP Sony LYT-700 main sensor, the same one used in the OnePlus series and inherits the advanced HDR and natural color algorithms of this series.
The second lens is an 8MP ultra-wide angle, supporting 3.5cm macro photography for close-up details.
Both the front and main rear cameras support 4K video recording at 60 fps, and it also features LivePhoto with Ultra HDR, allowing you to capture a 1.5-second moment before and after the shot and extract any frame as a 4K HDR image.
The OnePlus Nord 5 introduces OnePlus AI with productivity-enhancing AI tools like AI Search, which allows users to search on the device using natural language, or AI Translation, which translates in five modes: text, live voice, conversation, camera, and screen translation, with support for 29 languages.
OnePlus is collaborating with Google to integrate some of its AI features, such as Circle to Search and its assistant, Gemini. Additionally, Gemini Live Camera and Screensharing allow the AI to understand what the camera or screen is showing, offering real-time interactive guidance.
The OnePlus Nord 5 is equipped with a 5,200mAh battery and 80W SUPERVOOC charging , allowing the battery to charge from 1% to 100% in just 45 minutes.
It has been put up for sale for xxx euros.
