We tested the Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition: an AI-powered mouse that cares about your wrist

Among hundreds of mice packed with lights and buttons, mostly designed for gaming, Razer also focuses on productivity and office work. That's why its product line features peripherals like the Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition, a mouse designed for work—although it can be played with, with nuances—full of AI, and in this particular model, it also takes care of your wrist.

Let's start with the obvious: its design. This mouse promotes a natural grip thanks to its slanted shape, offering greater comfort during long sessions of use, reducing wrist friction with its base support. Ergonomic peripherals have a bad reputation for being ugly or ostentatious. Here, however, we have a sober, minimalist, and very light design. Although it bears Razer's signature, there are hardly any extravagant RGB lights, and those that do exist are limited; there are no aggressive edges, nor does it feature a design designed for gaming. It's a work tool for those who spend hours at a desk.

At ABC, we've used them as our main mouse for three weeks, and while it may take some getting used to at first, after the first few hours of use, you won't want to go back to using a mouse that doesn't have this design.

Under the hood, the Pro Click V2 features a 30,000 DPI optical sensor and a 1000 Hz polling rate. At ABC, these specifications may have seemed excessive for office tasks, but the firm always strives to pack a lot of punch even into its most specific products, which is always appreciated and nothing can be said about it. Furthermore, as with all Razer peripherals, all options are configurable down to the last detail through the Razer Synapse software, allowing you to change everything from sensitivity to the function of each button or the new AI features integrated into the Pro Click V2.

ChatGPT is just a click away

The mouse features a button in the center that instantly launches an AI assistant (it can be ChatGPT, but you can change it to any other, depending on your preference), making productivity tasks easier. But if you use Synapse, this button takes on a greater level of complexity. For example, you can customize a prompt to send directly to the assistant with a light touch so you don't even have to type it. By holding down the button, you can have the AI instantly translate a document and email it to you... the possibilities are endless; it's all a matter of fiddling with Razer's software. We thought it was a great addition for what the mouse is all about: work. And the speed with which the AI assistant launches, combined with the level of customization, seemed to us to be among the best on the market.

Another element to consider is its battery life. It can be connected via Bluetooth or a USB adapter, and in both cases, the battery life easily exceeds 200 hours. In tests with a full charge, we were able to work for days without worrying about a thing. Additionally, the mouse charges via USB-C and allows for use while plugged in, which is common, but it prevents having to stop if it runs out of battery in the middle of a day. There's no charging base included, but the cable included in the box is sufficient to handle that part without complications.

It's not a mouse for everyone, nor for everything.

Now, let's be clear. If what you need is a gaming mouse or something portable to carry in your backpack, this mouse shouldn't be your first choice. It's bulky and its natural home is a desk. When it comes to gaming, it's weak in two ways: its lack of precision for shooters or competitive games, and the unreachability of some buttons if you need to make quick movements, something that isn't the case with a conventional mouse. It may be ideal for strategy games, like Civilization VI, which have a much slower pace and the user doesn't need to react quickly to anything, but overall, we believe there are much better options if what you're interested in is a mouse for playing video games and nothing else. On the other hand, if you spend long hours working and notice that your wrist is suffering, this type of design may help you more than you're thinking right now.

While the price may seem a bit high (€129.99), the customization options, the optical sensor, and of course the AI functionality make this Razer Pro Click V2 a truly worthwhile option. If this is your first time using one of these, it may feel a bit clumsy and awkward at first. However, as you get used to it, you'll find that this is a perfect product that won't disappoint.
