With this Google trick you'll have a free real-time translator: discover Translate

The language barrier is no longer an impediment when communicating with people who don't speak our language. Thanks to technology, there are many tools that make it easier to understand something written or spoken in another language, with Google Translate still the most popular and widely used platform.
This machine translation service is available in 133 languages and was launched in 2006, including Spanish. More than 200 million people worldwide use it daily to translate text, but few use it to speak another language in real time. In this article, we explain how you can understand what tourists are saying when they come to Spain or survive in any foreign country , even if you communicate in Spanish.
How to speak another language with Google Translate?Although most internet users use Google Translate to translate texts, this tool also allows you to translate spoken text . This feature is called "Conversation Mode," but it's only available in 60 languages. To use it, simply go to the Alphabet website and do the following:
- Select the languages that will be spoken in the conversation.
- Click on the icon of the two stick figures with the word 'Conversation' underneath.
- A menu will immediately appear on the screen where you can select whether the person is speaking one language or another.
- There is an 'Automatic' option that allows the application itself to detect the language being spoken at any given time.
If Conversation mode isn't available in the language you want to translate, you'll just need to follow these steps to speak in real time (it's a more tedious process, but also useful):
- Click the microphone icon located below the left of the text entry space.
- The page will ask for permission to use your device's microphone . Select the Allow option.
- Record what you want to say to the person in front of you in the language they speak.
- When you're done saying everything you want, tap the square that appears in the same place where the microphone icon was before.
- The recording will stop and Google Translate will translate it into text format.
- To have the platform translate it aloud, simply tap the speaker icon with the volume control that appears to the left of the translation.
- Then you just have to let the other person do the same (make sure the language you want to translate is the individual's own and that they translate it into your language).
The features of Google Translate go far beyond the ability to translate text or audio instantly. There are a multitude of features that make it worth downloading the Google Translate app to always have on hand in case you need it:
- You can translate text or audio offline by downloading language packs. Just go to 'Settings' > 'Downloaded Languages'. The packs are between 30 and 50 MB in size.
- You can translate the text on a sign using Google Translate from the app by tapping the camera icon and choosing the input and output languages.
- Use Google Translate as your dictionary . In addition to translating, the tool also offers brief definitions if you add just one word and click "More details."
- If you copy the link to a page in another language , the platform makes it easy for you to translate the entire text.
