Antoine Griezmann renews his contract with Atlético Madrid until 2027.

Despite the end of his season and the rumors that have placed him far from the Metropolitano, Antoine Griezmann will continue wearing the Atlético de Madrid shirt until June 30, 2027, as the club has announced on its social networks.

Thus, one of the club's flagship players will be in the United States wearing red and white on June 15 to face PSG in Atlético de Madrid's first match at the upcoming Club World Cup.

"Atlético, I'm very happy to wear this wonderful shirt for many years to come, and I hope to bring you all much joy. A big hug. I love you," the Frenchman expressed in a video released by the club, also on social media, in which the player appeared with the sign announcing his renewal right behind him.

The Little Prince started as an undisputed starter this season in an attacking duo alongside Julián Álvarez , but a drop in form ended with him being benched in favor of Alexander Sorloth . The Frenchman, who finished the season with 16 goals and nine assists, hasn't scored since early February of this year against Mallorca.

This decline began to spark rumors that he would be away from the Metropolitano next season. There were particularly persistent rumors suggesting he move to an MLS team, especially given the Frenchman's deep love of American sports, especially the NFL.

But history and his family project have led the Frenchman to accept the club's offer to renew a contract that was due to expire in June 2026, just before the Rojiblancos' international tournament. It is rumored that with this deal, the club will reduce its salary bill, maintaining the Frenchman's €8 million gross salary but spreading it over two seasons.

The Frenchman, the club's all-time top scorer with 197 goals and 86 assists, has been one of Atlético's emblems since his arrival from Real Sociedad in 2014. Griezmann has worn the red and white jersey for nine seasons in two spells (he played three with FC Barcelona in between).

Griezmann was the first player to score at the Metropolitano, in a match against Málaga in September 2017. While wearing the Atlético jersey, he has won a Europa League title, scoring twice in the final against Olympique de Marseille, and two Super Cups, one European and one Spanish.

Furthermore, although he is not the Frenchman with the most individual titles, he has won the Bronze Ball twice, in 2016 and 2018, and was voted the best player in France, with whom he won a World Cup and a Nations League, in 2016.
