Betis and Barcelona move forward on Vitor Roque's departure to Palmeiras
The movements surrounding a possible departure of Vitor Roque have been taking shape in a new episode experienced throughout this Wednesday, as Betis and Barcelona continue to maintain a channel of contact and negotiation to establish a formula in which all parties come out benefited in some way and that the Brazilian striker can return to his native country to sign for Palmeiras, something that is increasingly closer to happening. This afternoon progress has been made in this regard and it remains to be seen what the final benefit will be for a Betis that on the one hand would see positively the obtaining of a short-term economic benefit in case Vitor Roque leaves and on the other hand there is the great handicap of being left with one less player in the squad with the transfer market closed and two pure strikers for the Conference League: Bakambu and Chimy Ávila, given that it is remembered that Cucho Hernández, the last signing of the winter transfer market, is not registered in Europe due to lack of space and therefore cannot participate in the round of 16 scheduled for Thursday 6th March and 13th of the same month against Vitoria de Guimaraes, the first of the matches being at the Benito Villamarín.
One of the options to unblock this situation that has been talked about this Wednesday is that Betis can increase the ownership percentage for the winger Abde, in order for the green and white team to allow the departure of Vitor Roque halfway through the season. It should be noted that Palmeiras still has until the evening of Thursday, February 28 to seal this reinforcement and what has already been made clear is that there is a closed agreement with Barcelona in exchange for 25 million euros for 80 percent of his transfer.
It remains for Betis to end up obtaining some kind of economic advantage, such as the aforementioned increase in Abde's ownership, given that his rights are 50% between Betis and Barcelona, after the Verdiblancos paid seven million in 2023 for the Moroccan winger. He is an asset yet to be exploited and Betis are exploring, among other possibilities, the way of increasing that percentage of ownership in exchange for letting Vitor Roque leave, who has been playing a secondary role currently in the squad, according to the latest line-ups offered by Pellegrini, and for which space could continue to be generated at the salary level, although with the clear disadvantage of having two attackers in continental competition such as Bakambu and Chimy Ávila, beyond the fact that Cucho Hernández can participate in LaLiga.
