Brazil also wants to host the Club World Cup and has applied to host the 2029 tournament: "Infantino was delighted with the proposal."

Brazil announced to FIFA on Friday its "willingness" to host the next edition of the Club World Cup in 2029 , the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said in a statement.

CBF President Samir Xaud met in the United States with FIFA President Gianni Infantino as part of the revamped Club World Cup, which is being held for the first time with 32 teams from around the world.

The executive told FIFA's top official that "Brazil is available to the highest football authority to host" the 2029 edition of the tournament, according to the official statement from the Brazilian organization, reproduced by AFP.

"Infantino was delighted (with the proposal) and stated that it was totally possible . Now we're going to work to make this happen. It would be a great goal," Xaud was quoted as saying in the text.

According to the same source, the leader also stated: "It all started with an introductory talk. I talked about my goals as head of the CBF and said we want to get closer to FIFA. I praised the event and the caliber of the Brazilian clubs, and finally, I offered the country to host the next World Cup."

FIFA did not provide details on how the host selection process will be conducted or when it will begin, and it was clarified that Brazil's bid was not an official one.

Spain , according to press reports, also aspires to host the event, although the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has not confirmed this aspiration.

Xaud was elected president of the CBF on May 25, on the eve of the arrival of Italian Carlo Ancelotti as coach of the Brazilian national team.

A 41-year-old doctor, the manager presented himself as the sole candidate despite opposition from numerous Brasileirao clubs.

The previous president, Ednaldo Rodrigues, was removed from office on May 15 due to allegations of irregularities in an agreement to remain at the helm of the entity.

Brazil hosted the men's World Cup in 2014 and will host the women's World Cup in 2027.
