Diogo Jota's death: The truck driver who witnessed the accident speaks out, contradicting authorities' accounts.
Investigations continue to determine the true causes of the traffic accident that claimed the lives of Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota and his brother . This incident has a new twist, following the testimony of a witness, a truck driver who recorded the car as it caught fire.
The truck driver, who is being sought by authorities to contribute to the investigation, finally appeared in public and, in a video posted on social media, made a statement claiming to be the person who filmed the burning car. He also stated that the vehicle involved in the accident was not speeding, as the official report indicates.

The man's name is José Azevedo , and after receiving criticism on social media for recording the shocking event, he defended himself. The man, who was accused of trying to gain likes instead of helping, admits that it was difficult for him to come forward in the face of so many attacks he's received.
The man claims he tried to help Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva , but quickly realized there was nothing he could do to save their lives.
"I filmed it, stopped, tried to help, but unfortunately, I couldn't do anything. My conscience is very clear. I know what I went through that night because they didn't know who was inside. My deepest condolences to the family," the truck driver initially stated, in statements reported by various media outlets in Spain.

Furthermore, the man contradicts the official version of high speed as the cause of the accident.
"The family has my word that they weren't speeding. I could see the make and color of the car when they passed me. They were driving perfectly. I drive that road every day, Monday through Saturday. I know which road, and I've seen some truly outrageous things from other cars, but they were driving perfectly. It's dark, and yet I could see the make and color of the vehicle perfectly. Later, unfortunately, it ended in the collision," he said.

The video captured by the truck driver, which lasts about 25 seconds, shows him slowly approaching the scene of Diogo Jota's accident. Images widely shared on social media show several pieces of the Lamborghini lying on the road, and the luxury car was burning on its left side.
The Civil Guard's version of the Jota case
The Civil Guard is considering the high speed of the vehicle as one of the possible causes of the accident in which Portuguese Liverpool player Diego Jota and his brother André Silva lost their lives early last Thursday morning on the A-52 motorway in Cernadilla (Zamora), when the Lamborghini Huracán, which according to the report was being driven by Diogo himself, left the road.

The Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard in Zamora is responsible for preparing the expert report on the accident, which has not yet been completed but, in addition to a possible tire blowout, also points to possible excessive speed, according to sources involved in the investigation who spoke to EFE.
The Traffic Department is currently examining the marks left by the tread of one of the tires to further its report. Furthermore, the tests conducted so far indicate that the driver of the two brothers traveling in the crashed vehicle was Portuguese international Diogo Jota.
The expert report from the Zamora Civil Guard Traffic Department has not yet been completed, and once it is completed, it will be sent to the Court of First Instance and Investigation of Puebla de Sanabria (Zamora), which has taken charge of the accident investigation. The Liverpool player and his brother were involved in the traffic accident at around 12:30 a.m. last Thursday, the 3rd, at kilometer 65 of the A-52 highway as they were traveling to Santander, where Diogo was scheduled to take a ferry to England, as doctors had recommended against flying due to a lung problem.
