Jackson is lucid and out of danger after the scare his family suffered, but he is under the effects of anesthesia and hospitalized. It is not clear whether the former footballer has already left the intensive care unit and the possible after-effects of the stroke.
"We have received many messages because Jackson is very loved. Jackson is doing well and getting better every day ," said Allyne, Jackson's sister in an interview with Globo Esporte.
Jackson rose to worldwide fame in 1999, after winning the Copa Libertadores with Palmeiras in the final, in which they defeated Deportivo Cali, in what was the São Paulo club's first title in the competition.
Jackson , now 51 years old, played three games for the Brazilian national team before making the jump to Palmeiras, who at the time paid Sport $3 million for his signing, a fortune for the time.
