Garcia Pimienta puts the brakes on Gudelj

García Pimienta 's handling of the game against Mallorca (especially in the final stretch) was called into question. The Catalan coach was questioned for not having made quicker and more forceful changes to the bench, with Nemanja Gudelj , a key player in the Sevilla squad, being one of the players who was left out.

García Pimienta said after the match that Gudelj had some discomforts which meant that it was not advisable for him to play even though he was in the squad. « He couldn't play. He had a small discomfort in the last training session and we would have forced the situation too much. It's true that he was on the bench, cheering and even warming up, but he wasn't available for today ,» the coach commented in the press room.

Gudelj has been suffering from physical discomfort since the match against Barcelona on 9 February and, with five players out of the squad, he made an effort to help the team in Valladolid. Beyond his career at the club (he is one of the players who has been there the longest alongside Suso), Gudelj acts as captain on the pitch and always wants to contribute. This season he has been indispensable for the coach. So much so that his absence on Monday resets the counter that already added up to 20 consecutive appearances in LaLiga . During this period he started in 19 matches, playing the full 90 minutes in the same number of matches. He has only missed minutes in three LaLiga matches and is one of the few players in the squad who has not missed a single match due to injury or suspension.
