City only took the lead once: in the ninth minute, with a controversial goal from Bernardo Silva, which prompted a protest from Al Hilal players over an alleged handball that gave the Portuguese player an advantage.
At the start of the second half, the Arabs staged a comeback, supported by their Brazilian forwards. In the 46th minute, Marcos Leonardo tied the score at 1-1; and in the 52nd minute, Malcom scored, making it 2-1.

In the 112th minute, Senegalese Kalidou Koulibaly won the aerial game and scored a historic goal: 2-3 for Al Hilal, a global upset and elimination of the 'Citizens'.

Saudi Arabian Al Hilal coach Simone Inzaghi applauded his players for their "historic" victory on Monday against
Manchester City 4-3 after extra time in the Club World Cup round of 16.
"I feel a great satisfaction. The players were brilliant, they played a historic match against a great opponent and they deserved it," the Italian coach told DAZN on the pitch at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. French center back Kalidou Koulibaly, who scored one of Al Hilal's two goals in extra time, said the win proves his team deserves to be among the elite in the quarterfinals of the world tournament.
